Merck and the FDA- Why are all the rats dying?

Today's big news on the pharmaceuticals is that the popular allergy and asthma drug, Singulair may be the cause of some known suicides.
The story of the pharmaceuticals and the drugs they make that causes people to do strange things indeed is an old story. Dating back for sometime hearings have been held on many drugs, such as Prozac, clear back in 1991 but even after hearing testimony from people who tell of their experiences and how the drugs drove them to madness, has changed very little. The drug is still sold all the same. Now, the real kicker is, what is the purpose of the Food and Drug Administration anyway? Should we not at least expect some of these drugs first made it through a clearinghouse of research and testing by them before they ever were released to the American public to be used by us, to only later discover, anxiety attacks, depression, suicide and more are directly related to many of the drugs sold to us. It's pretty major when you take a pill for the sniffles and instead you take a rope and hang yourself, don't you think?
How hard is it for a Washingtonian organization like the FDA, to ask questions, when they give these drugs to rats, and come in the next day to the lab and find that most of the rats had hung themselves overnight, some acquired guns and killed off other rats, and then there were a few sitting in the corners drawn up into a fetal position, not eating, and slowing sleeping their lives away! What does it take an education to figure out that rats just don't do these things on their own, do they? There has to be a cause.
Perhaps with all the recent recalls on foods, playtoys, and more, and the harm that is already done, we need to reconsider the object of recalls, instead of the product we perhaps need to say it's time to recall the FDA and their inspectors and research,. For God's sake, someone save those poor rats from the abuse they take. All those drugs, and no one there still understands why the rats are acting that way. Let's get some common sense in this country, and realize, government organizations don't provide safety or protection from greedy pharmaceutical companies no more than they can keep you from eating a rotten cow, while inspectors are present staanding around scratching their butts and their heads, trying to figure out just what their job is suppose to be. More tax dollars at waste.
This is not the first problem with Singulair, Merck has updated their warning labels four times in the past year. The following has already been added to their labels as possible side effects, tremors, anxiousness, depression and suicidal behavior. Someone must have noted some changes in the rat behaviour. How can one tell if a rat is suicidal, or depressed anyway? The crux of my satire is that research has to perform controlled studies, and more than just on rats, and the FDA if they were doing there job would make sure these studies are supervised and controlled and not just some fluid numbers created by the pharmacueticals to come along and tell them "it's safe, we've tested it". How long did the Tobbacco companies convince government that smoking was completely safe? How long will it be before the American public realizes, a lot of strange behaviour and radical mental changes, and even Columbine incidents are being caused by the pharmacueticals and their experimental drugs and the lack of the FDA to do their job. Geez, why can't someone just ask the simple question, "Why are all the rats dying?"
